Village Scenery

We got up before dawn and headed towards the hamlet of our ancestors...

As I already covered in my previous posts that Mambakkam is the village near Madurantakkam on the Indian National Highway.

New born calf is a week old. We had this as one of the reasons to visit Mambakkam apart from visiting Erri Katha Ramar Koil.

We grow paddy in our village. India's major crop is Paddy and is grown in abundant in South India.

The people in Mambakkam Village are vey generous, one of the villagers had plucked and brought coconuts for all of us to drink its water. The whole evening we spent there and returned back to Chennai by dawn.

These kids are playing Gully Cricket and the future of India. There are few folks enjoying the day under the tree.

I was working on potraying Madhav and Narayanan. Painting is an art that gives peace of mind. I like to paint with different mediums of painting to bring the final output of the theme.
I also contribute a dedicated blog on painting.

These are the painted structures of a stage set that are intended to suggest Mambakkam.

We had a long walk into the paddy fields the other day. We could relax under the tree where there is a small hut tuckked in.
This is my great grand mother, Janakavalli Pati.

Reema Ganugapati - Bharatanatyam Dance

BharataNatyam Temple Dance: This dance form is a 20th century reconstruction of Cathir, the art of temple dancers. Cathir in turn, is derived from ancient dance forms. In ancient times it was performed as Dasiattam by temple Devadasis. Many of the ancient sculptures in Hindu temples are based on Bharata Natyam dance and this is the most popular classical dance in India and all over the world.

I remember my childhood days while I accompanied my sister to an auditorium where ahe used to learn Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dance classes. Here is one of the most famous dance performance of my niece, Reema Ganugapati in Livermore, California. Her parents Venkipuram Rupa Sharma (my sister) and Sharma Ganugapati have contributed this video of her kuchipudi dance performance for my blog readers.

Additional Resources:

Read more about BharataNatyam dance also the danc forms of Kuchipudi.
